We are excited to bring the National 4-H Science Experiment to Wayne County. The
experiment is Code Your World that will teach computer science skills to youth
and was authored by WVU Extension faculty, in partnership with Google and National
4-H Council. C-K Middle School will get the opportunity to do this science experiment
this Friday September 28. The experiment is designed for youth in 4th - 8th grade.

Highlights from 2018 Fun Horse Show
The 2018 Wayne County 4-H Fun Show was held Saturday, September 15 at
the Shirley Burgess Park. We had nearly 20 competitors from Wayne County and surrounding areas. Many thanks to Jamie Ferguson for the use of
his land, Jerry Williamson for tilling the arena, SE Productions for
setting sound, Katie Taylor for announcing, Carter BBQ for concessions
as well as all our volunteers and exhibitors for a great show!

Annual 4-H Chili Cook-Off Set for October
The 4-H Chili Cook-Off will be October 13 as part of the Wayne Fall Festival! We are seeking cooks interested in donating their time to cook their favorite chili. There is no cost to participate. All proceeds help raise scholarship funds to send 4-H members to state camps and events. We are also seeking sponsors to help off-set the fixed costs associated with this event. Workforce Development Skills Taught to High School Seniors
The Wayne County 4-H Program can provide workforce development skills to middle and high school students. Lauren Marcum, Business Teacher at Wayne High School, invited our office to spend a couple of hours with her class in early September to teach them how to effectively apply for and interview for jobs. Wayne County 4-H'ers Participate in Ireland Trip
We had two Wayne County 4-H members - Erin Ferry (left) and Zoe Harold participated in the 4-H Learning Adventures trip to Ireland last month. They and the 14 other participants learned about Gaelic sports, history, culture and heritage as part of their eight day educational trip of Ireland. Energy Express Enters its Last Week
The Wayne County Energy Express program enters its last week with children. Site teams started June 8. Children started July 2 and met daily at the five sites (Crum, East Lynn, Fort Gay, Ceredo-Kenoa, and Buffalo). Children engaged in reading and hands-on activities (art, drama, writing, etc.) to help reinforce reading skills. Here are a few celebrity readers who visited the sites to read with children, as well as samples of the great artwork completed this summer. Ambassadors Work on Next Quilt Block
The Wayne County 4-H Ambassadors Team continues to work on the 4-H Heritage Quilt Trail. Currently, they have three 4ft x 4ft blocks available for anyone interested in having a block for their barn and outside building.
