Barnett Inducted into WV 4-H All Stars

Brenna Barnett of Fort Gay was inducted into the WV 4-H All Stars which is the highest honor in the WV 4-H program. She was inducted on Friday June 10, 2022, as part of the final council circle program at 4-H Older Camp at Cabwaylingo State Forest. The All Stars recognizes outstanding service and leadership in the 4-H program and Brenna exemplifies both! Teen Leaders Served at 4-H Younger Camp

Wayne County 4-H Younger Camp featured talented and hard working teen leaders who volunteered their time to help make camp fun and engaging for our 9-12 year olds attending camp. The following teens served at 4-H Younger Camp, held June 20-24 at Cabwaylingo State Forest: Nicholas Daniels of Wayne, Benji Chute of Kenova, Ethan Adams of Wayne, McKenzie Cassel of Fort Gay, Hunter Hayton of Westmoreland, Addy Smith of Wayne, and Marah Christian of Wayne. Youth Selected as Mingo SAG at OMC

Please help us congratulate Chase Smith (left) of Prichard, who was selected to serve as Sagamore of the Mingo tribe this past week at Older Members Conference at WVU Jackson’s Mill in Weston. He sits with Morgan Christian of Cabell County who was selected as Chief of the Mingo tribe. Both positions are high honors at our county and state 4-H camps! Younger Camp Award Winners

Congratulations to all the youth who attended 4-H Younger Camp held at Cabwaylingo June 20-24. It was the first time in three years that 4-H was able to conduct residential camps in Wayne County due to the pandemic. Here is a summary of award winners last week.

Older Camp Award Winners

4-H Older Camp was held June 6 - 10, 2022 at Cabwaylingo State Forest. This annual camp was held for this first time since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Here is a complete list of award winners.

Blue & Gold Award - a warded to campers with three or more years, who  demonstrate good leadership and enthusiasm while at camp. These individuals also must have participated in county and state 4-H events. This year's winners include:

Energy Express Up & Running

Our three Energy Express sites met for the first time on June 9 in Morgantown. For the next few days each site team at Crum, Fort Gay and Buffalo will prepare classrooms and participate in trainings prior to the first day with children which is Tuesday June 21. Tribal Leadership at 4-H Older Camp

Wayne County 4-H Older Camp was held at Cabwaylingo State Forest June 6 - 10, 2022. The following teens were identified for leadership positions at camp last week (l-r): Duke Parsley, Addy Smith, Hunter Hayton, Canaan Blankenship, McKenzie Cassel, Fallon Stephens, Bekah Napier, and Ethan Adams. The following photographs are a few highlights from a great week at camp.

4-H Summer Tours Announced

The Wayne County 4-H Program has not been able to host these free tours of local attractions and places of interest for the past two years. This year each tour is designed to help youth explore different career options as they enter middle and high school. These tours are free and open to anyone but registration is required. Parents are required to stay with their children for the duration of each tour. Each tour will last approximately one hour.
