4-H'ers with the Wayne County 4-H Program held their last practice on April 10 at a local farm owned by Leonard Napier to judge beef cattle. This practice was in preparation for the WV Beef Expo & Stockman's Contest held April 12 in Weston, WV. 4-H'er Participates in National 4-H Conference
Chase Smith of the Whites Creek Critters 4-H Club (far left), was one of four delegates to represent West Virginia 4-H Program at the National 4-H Conference in Washington, D.C., this past week. The other delegates include (l-r): Drina Kerns of Doddridge County; Faith Reed of Raleigh County; and Katlyn Jones of Kanawha County.
The National 4‑H Conference is the pinnacle experience in 4‑H Civic
Engagement, providing the opportunity for young people to connect,
learn, engage, lead and impact their communities, their nation and their
world. The conference, held April 6-11, 2019, facilitated direct opportunities for youth to apply what was learned in
real world experiences using
their voices, work, ideas and/or behavior to make a difference.
Recruiting Children for Energy Express Program
The four Energy Express sites in Wayne County are recruiting children for the program. The sites include: Buffalo Elementary, C-K Elementary, East Lynn Elementary, and Fort Gay PreK-8.
Two Community Service Projects Conducted by 4-H Club
The Whites Creek Critters 4-H and Cloverbud Club conducted two spring community service projects this spring. First, the club collected needed items for the Little Victories Animal Rescue Shelter.
Youth Participate in State Shooting Sports Weekend
Several youth participated in the 2019 State Shooting Sports Weekend in Gilmer County April 5-7, 2019. The youth include (l-r): Chase Smith, Alex Hall, Andrew Kelley, and Breanna Crocket. Wayne County will host four Energy Express sites this summer and are in need of craft items to help with the program. The following Energy Express sites will accept "found items" during normal school hours. The sites include:

Wayne County 4-H Projects Due July 8
Wayne County 4-H members should turn in their 4-H Projects by Monday, July 8, into the Extension Office in Wayne. Members should bring the exhibit part of the project to the Wayne County Fair on Monday, July 29, between 4 and 7 p.m., to Exhibit Hall at Camden Park. Charting Projects Due May 6
Wayne County 4-H Teens are reminded to turn in their 4-H Charting Projects
to the
Extension Office
no later than Monday, May 6, 2019, at 4 p.m. Charting is a 4-H project focused on
personal development for teens in 9th grade and older. If you have questions, please
