The Trout's Hill 4-H Club met Friday February 14 at the Wayne Methodist Church. Club members made a snowman as their craft project, learned about circuits and got to see a few pictures of the Wayne seniors enjoying the Valentine Day cards they made the month prior! The Wayne County office is seeking applicants for the position of Teen Camp Counselor by March 2, 2020.

Wayne County 4-H'ers “traveled” to Israel on Monday February 10th and made homemade pita bread, Israeli salad, walnut snowball cookies, hummus and baba ghanoush (an appetizer of mashed eggplant mixed with tahini, oil and seasonings). These are just a few of our amazing 4-H volunteers who give their time to help youth in Wayne County. We are recruiting volunteers to serve as club leaders and for 4-H camp this summer. Please help congratulate these 4-H members who competed in State 4-H Air Rifle Competition on February 15 in Morgantown. In the Junior Division, Ayden Copley placed 1st, Aubrey Dillon placed 4th and Laura Queen placed 6th; combined they placed first as a team. Two horse shows will be held in Wayne this year at the Shirley Burgess Park just north of Wayne of Route 152. The Wayne County Horse Program has a complete list of classes for both shows and rules. For more information about either show, contact our office at 304-272-6839.

The Wayne County 4-H Ambassadors met last evening and made garland of popcorn and cranberries that will be hung outside the windows of the residents at the Wayne County Nursing Home as part of their monthly community service projects. Highlights from the International Cooking class held February 3, 2020 at the Wayne County Extension Office. Youth “traveled” to Greenland, the world’s largest island. 4-H members got to make pan fried white fish with roasted vegetables and Kalaallit Kaagiat, a delicious sweet bread. Many thanks to Lisa Bell, our Health Educator who gave a Grocery Tour on January 13 to the Wayne County 4-H Ambassadors. The teens learned about the five food groups, how to read food labels, and learned some great advice on spending less on groceries!

The 4th grade class at Crum PreK-8 embarked on the five-week Sky’s the Limit Curriculum starting January 16, 2020, where they will learn and apply the research design process via a series of building challenges. Third grade students at Crum will complete the West Virginia Know Your State Project, where their projects will be on exhibit at the Wayne County Fair in August.

The 4th grade students below built a 10 inch free standing tower as part of the Sky's the Limit Curriculum.
