4-H’ers and friends of the program come together to celebrate this during National 4-H Week, held on Oct. 1-7 this year. The theme is “I Love 4-H,” which invites incoming members to learn more about the program from both current members and alumni sharing why they fell in love with the program.

Each year, thousands of youths across West Virginia have the chance to discover what they love and are passionate about through 4-H. The largest youth development organization in the nation, 4-H gives young people an opportunity to build relationships, skills and experiences that last a lifetime. To recognize the importance of 4-H, West Virginia University Extension joins in a celebration of National 4-H Week Oct. 1-7.
Unique learning opportunities, field trips available at WVU Jackson’s Mill
As a new school year starts, so do new chances to go on personalized field trips at West Virginia University Jackson’s Mill. Half-day, full-day and overnight field trips are offered to school and home school groups grades K-12 throughout the academic year.

WVU Extension Safety and Health awarded first of its kind endowment for workforce development
West Virginia University Extension Safety and Health received its first endowment to establish scholarship assistance for individuals seeking to obtain advanced certifications in safety and health. Nancy Valentine Harper of Rivesville, West Virginia, pledged a portion of her estate to support scholarships and a training room at WVU Extension’s Safety and Health at One Waterfront Place.
WVU 4-H’ers continue program’s success at national land judging competition
West Virginia University Extension 4-H teams have a long history of earning top honors in the national land judging and homesite evaluation competitions. In May, a team of Monroe County youths continued that legacy by winning the national champion title at the National Land Judging and Homesite Evaluation Contest in Oklahoma.
