Education and Training Careers
What's it about?
The education and training career cluster includes teaching, counseling, and support
roles like school psychologists and speech-language pathologists. This includes
roles in public and private schools from pre-K through high school and positions
in colleges and universities. Primary and secondary school teachers need a bachelor's
degree and a license, while college instructors require advanced degrees. Careers
in libraries, museums, and corporate training services also fall under this cluster.
Most careers in this field (not all of them) require a bachelor’s or advanced degree.
Key Skills for Success
In addition to job specific skills in the chosen discipline, those working in an education and training career should possess the following skills: Communication (Written and Verbal), teamwork, adaptability, empathy, critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and attention to detail. Additionally, students should enjoy course work in science, mathematics, psychology, and human development.
