Wayne County 4-H'ers Compete in Stockmen's Contest

Congratulations to our junior team that competed in the Stockmen's contest on April 13, 2018 as part of the 2018 West Virginia Beef Expo. Duke Parsley placed 10 out of 123 competitors in the junior division. We are so proud of the entire team for their hard work and dedication.

The team met weekly since February studying retail cuts of meat, livestock quality assurance, beef cattle breeds, forage identification, and cattle judging. They also spent many hours outside of practice studying their notes.

While waiting for the results, the team toured WVU Jackson's Mill. This is the first time Wayne County 4-H has fielded a team for this state contest. For more information on this and other 4-H programs, contact Julie Tritz.
