West Virginia University Extension Service has announced the appointment of Lauren Seiler as assistant director of development.
Seiler will oversee the organization’s annual fund and stewardship activities, as well as assist with other fundraising efforts to support Extension programming, including 4-H.
Before joining WVU Extension Service, Seiler served as assistant director of development and outreach for WVU’s College of Education and Human Services where she increased the organization’s annual giving by more than 100 percent. She also was responsible for overseeing the college’s development events and scholarship program. Prior to her position at CEHS, she worked at the WVU Foundation for five years where she assisted with donor recognition.
“Growing up in Morgantown, I understand the important role WVU and WVU Extension play in our communities. The work we do and the resources we provide are life-changing. I’m looking forward to doing my part to help us extend those outreach efforts to build a stronger West Virginia,” said Seiler.
Seiler earned a bachelor’s of science degree in journalism with an emphasis on public relations from the WVU Reed College of Media. During her time at WVU, she served as drum major for the WVU Marching Band.
“Lauren’s strong fundraising background and passion for West Virginia make her a perfect fit for this position as we work to carry out WVU’s land-grant mission,” said Abigail Esguerra, director of development, WVU Extension Service. “I look forward to working with her to build upon our success and to identify opportunities to enhance WVU Extension programming to meet the needs of the people of our state.”
Seiler is a member of Leadership Monongalia and serves as president of the board of directors for Spark! Imagination & Science Center. She also is a member of the board of directors of Girls on the Run of NCWV 5K and is a volunteer for Ronald McDonald House Charities, Inc.
