Save the Date for Wayne County Fair Open Horse Show

Wayne County Open Horse Show

Wayne County 4-H members and horse enthusiasts are encouraged to "Save the Date" for the 2018 Open Horse Show. It will be held Saturday July 28, 2018 at the Shirley Burgess Park/ Route 152. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m., show will start at 10:00 a.m. Negative Coggins is required for all horses. Non 4-H members are encouraged to participate in this show. The Wayne County Fair Open Horse Show  has 24 classes for gaited and non-gaited horses. All are welcome to participate. For more information, please call 304-272-6839.

Wayne County 4-H'ers Compete in State Air Rifle Competition

Please help us congratulate our Wayne County 4-H members who competed in the State 4-H Air Rifle Competition held in Morgantown on February 18. The competitors include (l-r): Ashlee Bell (#15), Brettina Jeffers (#9), Breanna Crockett (#11), Andrew Kelley (#4), Chase Smith (#3), and Levi Smith (#6). The number behind their name indicates their placing out of 20 competitors. Finally, sincere appreciation to all our coaches for their time and dedication over the past several months.

Wayne County 4-H Day is Set

4-H Public Speaking

Current Wayne County 4-H members are invited to participate in the annual county contest which will be held at the Extension Office on Tuesday April 3, 2018 at 6 p.m. Register for Wayne County 4-H Day by March 22. 4-H members may register for visual presentation, PowerPoint presentation, public speaking, the 4-H Pledge, Cookie Bake-Off, Photography Contest, and Talent Show. The state contest is a virtual format where members must submit a video of themselves giving their presentation. However, there will be a live county contest to qualify for the state competition. These are just a few of our amazing 4-H volunteers (back row l-r: Jeff Ferry, Tim Smith, Bruce Crockett; front row l-r: Tammy Barnett, Dawn Streets, Amy Smith, and Phyllis Brumfield) who work tirelessly to serve and provide opportunities for youth in Wayne County. The Wayne County 4-H program is seeking volunteers for summer programs and to support 4-H Clubs. All potential volunteers are required to complete appropriate paperwork and training. 2018 4-H Teen Camp Counselors

Applications are now available for teens interested in serving as a  4-H Teen Camp Counselor this summer. Wayne County 4-H has two opportunities: Younger Camp scheduled for June 19 - 22 at Cabwaylingo State Forest and Day Camp scheduled for June 12 - 15 at Mays Chapel in Lavelette. 2018 4-H Camp Staff Application

Applications are now available for adult camp staff at camps in 2018.

In order to be considered as a Wayne County 4-H Camp Staff Volunteer, you must have a completed 4-H Volunteer Application, 4-H Volunteer Code of Conduct, and all the necessary volunteer vetting items on file in the Wayne County Extension Office. Please complete the Adult Camp Staff Application by March 2, 2018.
