Our 4-H Ambassadors held their annual cake decorating party last evening. They also finalized their community service projects for 2022. Youth Learn about the Country of Ghana
Our International Travel 4-H Club recently met this week and learned about the West African country of Ghana. They made home made crafts to send to some new pen pals in Ghana and tried three new dishes: jollof rice, suya (peppered beef skewers) and chin-chin (a deep fried bread). 4-H Volunteer Recognized for 25 Years of Service
Dawn Streets of Wayne, has served the Wayne County 4-H program for 25 years. Her service as a 4-H volunteer has been characterized by dedication, commitment and creativity. Dawn stands with a beautiful quilt she had made this fall that features the 4-H camp t-shirts she has collected over the years. Thank you Dawn for your faithful service. Gifts for Ghana 4-H members
Our International Travel 4-H Club has made home snowflakes, bracelets and collected WV maps, coal, marbles and postcards to send to their new found 4-H friends in Ghana. In turn, they are sending the club members items from Ghana that are due to arrive here soon. The next club meeting is January 6 at 5 p.m. at the Extension office.
Annual 4-H Achievement Program

2021 Outstanding 4-H Volunteers
This year the State 4-H Program will recognize two 4-H Volunteers who were identified
as the 2021 Outstanding 4-H Volunteers for Wayne County. They include Dawn Streets
and Gordon Fields, both of Wayne.
Dawn was recognized earlier this fall for 25 years of service to the Wayne County 4-H. She has faithfully supported the 4-H Camp program for many years, serving as our Health Care Provider and decorator extraordinaire. She regularly participates in 4-H Leaders meetings, serving as Vice President, lending her ideas and support throughout the 4-H year. We are blessed to count Dawn among our 4-H volunteers in the county!
Ambassadors Paint Storage Unit
On this Veteran’s Day, our 4-H Ambassadors spent the afternoon giving back by giving our camp storage unit a much needed coat of paint and cleaning our office signs. The next meeting for the 4-H Ambassadors is after school on December 9, where members will have fun and do some cake decorating! International Travel 4-H Club Studies Kosovo
The International Travel 4-H Club met November 11 to learn about the country of Kosovo, the 4-H program in Africa, and sample some food from Kosovo, France, and Italy. The next club meeting is December 9 after school. We will learn more about the beautiful country of Ghana in West Africa. All are welcome to attend. International Travel 4-H Club Hosts First Meeting this Fall
The International Travel 4-H Club will hold its first meeting this fall on Thursday, October 7 at 4:30 p.m. Club members will learn about the country of Mongolia, sampling some food and doing a craft. Please call the Wayne County Extension Office at 304-272-6839 for details.
Wayne 4-H Open House Scheduled
On Tuesday, October 5 from 4 - 6 p.m., the Wayne County office will host an Open House for any interested families to stop by and learn more about the Wayne County 4-H program. Active and interested youth can enroll in the Wayne County 4-H starting tomorrow October 1 via ZSuite. Parents are also welcome to call our office at 304-272-6839 for more information or email Julie Tritz, 4-H Extension Agent. Our office hours are 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
