On Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Harvest Time at the Mill returns and is open to the public. WVU Jackson’s Mill invites people of all ages to participate in blacksmithing, heritage-themed youth activities, gristmill demonstrations in the historic Blaker Mill and more.
"Historically, fall was always an important time of the year in the Mountain State, as was harvest time,” Joe Obidzinski, WVU Extension program coordinator, history and heritage, said. “Harvest Time at the Mill is the perfect time to dive back into history and come out to enjoy the fall weather, learn about Jackson's Mill history and heritage through demonstrations, hands-on activities and craft vendors.”
There also will be a craft fair for heritage vendors and crafters to sell or demonstrate their craft during the event. If any heritage artisan or vendor is interested in participating, call Jackson’s Mill at 304-269-5100 to register. There is no cost to participate as a vendor, and Jackson’s Mill does not take a cut of the profit.
This event is free to attend. There will be several food trucks available to purchase food and drinks. On Sunday, the 4-H program, which uses WVU Jackson’s Mill throughout the year, will provide baked goods as fundraisers for their groups and events.
