Health 4-H Project Area

The 4-H Health project area consists of three project manuals. Each manual covers one year of activities. The series promotes health, exercise and nutrition while you practice life skills of communication, problem-solving, decision-making and organizing information.

  • In First Aid in Action (Health 1), you will practice first aid skills to treat cuts, scrapes, nosebleeds and bee stings. Also, learn how to respond to someone who is choking or has broken a bone; assemble a first aid kit; and interview members of the medical profession.
  • Staying Healthy (Health 2) involves using a self assessment tool to identify personal talent areas; exploring hygiene, nutrition and physical activities; and sharing what you discover.

If a member completes the 3 years of project manuals, they can work with their county Extension professionals to determine their learning opportunities for their remaining 4-H years.

Scoresheets

Each year, 4-H members are to complete all twelve (12) Project Interest Areas and three (3) “More Challenges” activities. Complete the program in one year.  If you do additional “More Challenges” activities, please check the three (3) activities you want to be graded. Record in your work in a notebook, including the what, when, where, and how you accomplished each selected “More Challenges” activity. Include your notebook with your project book for grading. Additional requirements that are unique to the book are listed at the top of the scoresheet.

Download a copy of the scoresheet to determine what is expected for project completion.
