Dental Health
The purpose of this program is to increase dental health knowledge and motivate 4-H’ers and families to try new dental health habits and to improve others. This program shows 4-H’ers ways to take part in healthy lifestyle activities and reinforces positive habits they already practice. From the 4-H health activities and take-home information, 4-H youths and their families will learn to make everyday choices that lead to good health such as these specific actions:
- brush and floss teeth more frequently and thoroughly
- choose healthy snacks, especially fruits and vegetables
- replace sugar-added drinks with water and low-fat milk
- commit to being tobacco-free for healthy teeth and body
- use fluoride mouth rinse after brushing teeth
This 4-H Health Officer activity guide was last used during the 2016-2017 West Virginia 4-H Club year. The information and activities were updated and revised in 2016.
