Shooting Sports Weekend

This camping weekend is designed to teach life skills through safe, noncompetitive activities in shooting sports and natural resources. Campers may participate in several different tracks including archery, air rifle, shotgun, muzzleloading (black powder), air pistol, and wildlife conservation (hunting and trapping. Campers will also learn about West Virginia’s natural resources through a variety of group and outdoor learning experiences.
WHO:
West Virginia 4-H members, age 12–17 (as of April 13, 2020)
regardless of prior shooting sports experience in their home county. No experience
necessary.

CHAPERONES:
Chaperone supply will not be mandatory due to the nature of this camping format,
in which county instructors serve in the dual role of counselor. Should volunteers
elect to accompany campers, they must be registered as camp counselors and fully
vetted through their individual county affiliation. All camp volunteers are fully
vetted through WVU Extension Service 4-H.
CAMP NOTES:
Campers are not to bring equipment beyond approved personal safety equipment,
i.e., safety glasses and hearing protection. This is NOT a competition! Be
sure personal property is personally identified in some manner. Do not bring
valuables! These are not the responsibility of the Shooting Sports Camp. The
only exception is the inclusion of the advanced archery section which encourages
4-H’ers to bring their personal archery equipment for use in this specific
class section.
