West Virginia University Extension Safety and Health received its first endowment to establish scholarship assistance for individuals seeking to obtain advanced certifications in safety and health. Nancy Valentine Harper of Rivesville, West Virginia, pledged a portion of her estate to support scholarships and a training room at WVU Extension’s Safety and Health at One Waterfront Place.
WVU 4-H’ers continue program’s success at national land judging competition
West Virginia University Extension 4-H teams have a long history of earning top honors in the national land judging and homesite evaluation competitions. In May, a team of Monroe County youths continued that legacy by winning the national champion title at the National Land Judging and Homesite Evaluation Contest in Oklahoma.
WVU Jackson’s Mill partners with BHE GT&S to add river access ramps for safer outdoor recreation
West Virginia University Jackson’s Mill has offered outdoor recreation
opportunities to youth for years, but their access to the river that runs along
the campus has been limited. However, through a recent partnership, they were
able to add two new river access ramps, increasing these opportunities
significantly.

Adams is a graduate of the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources with a dual bachelor’s degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering and a master’s degree in aerospace engineering, but her interest in rocketry started long before that at a 4-H club when she was only nine years old.
