This winter, West Virginia University Jackson’s Mill invites the community to get into the holiday spirit by participating in Breakfast with Santa and the annual holiday cookie order.
On Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to noon, community members are invited to attend Breakfast with Santa. Attendees will be served breakfast consisting of French toast sticks, sausage links, scrambled eggs, hot and cold cereals, fresh fruit, milk, juice and a hot chocolate bar. Children will have an opportunity to interact and take a photo with Santa. There will not be a professional photographer; attendees are encouraged to bring their own camera or phone for photos.
"Every year around the holidays, Jackson’s Mill gets a visit from the ‘Man in Red’ himself — Santa Claus,” Brandy Stire, WVU Jackson’s Mill, food service manager, said. “Come out and enjoy a delicious breakfast prepared by our food service staff in the Mount Vernon Dining Hall and spend time telling St. Nick what you want for Christmas.”
Registration for Breakfast with Santa is open now through Nov. 22 or until 400 people register. Every person five years and older must register and pay. The cost for children 5 to 12 years old is $9 and $15 for attendees 12 years and older. Children under five get in free. You must show your receipt at the door, walk-ins and refunds are not offered.
To register, call Jackson’s Mill at 304-269-5100. Your receipt will be emailed to you.
To continue the holiday cheer, it would not be the holidays without cookies — Jackson’s Mill homemade cookie orders are now open. Cookie varieties include chocolate chip, peanut butter, snickerdoodle, German chocolate thumbprint, white house cherry, lemon, chocolate no-bake, peanut butter no-bake, oatmeal, cranberry, and white chocolate. Cookie trays are filled with samplings of each type of cookie. Cookie trays do contain nuts and gluten, and special orders are not available. The cost for cookie trays is $37, plus tax, for three dozen and $60, plus tax, for five dozen.
"Let Jackson’s Mill take some stress out of your holiday season by doing the baking for you,” Stire said. “Each year, our food service staff prepare a variety of handmade cookies that are perfect to accompany your holiday celebrations.”
The first day to pick up cookie orders is Dec. 2. You can schedule a pickup between Dec. 2-19, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
To order cookies, call 304-269-5100. Payment is due at the time of ordering. When ordering, allow a 48-72 hour turnaround time to fill your order.
