It's really flying! The WVU Day at the Legislature features a host of activities
for youths and families, including science, outdoor education, literacy and other
educational opportunities. In this picture youngster tries her hand at making
a flying machine to float through the wind tunnel.
Throughout the state, the Flying WV from the
West Virginia University logo can be seen and felt in all corners of the state.
Whether it is a student participating in WVU Extension’s
4-H,
Energy Express, a Science, Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) camp,
or other WVU educational programs; a fan attending a sporting event; or a
proud alum giving back to their alma mater, people have strong connections
to West Virginia's largest land-grant university.
The 2023 WVU Day at the Legislature is an opportunity to celebrate those connections.
Faculty, staff, volunteers, youths and families will be on hand Jan. 31, 2023,
from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the upper rotunda of the Capitol in Charleston to participate
in the event.
Visitors of all ages are invited to attend this free event, which features a host
of engaging activities in the areas of
STEM, law, literacy, outdoor adventure, health care, safety,
WVU Jackson’s Mill and more. Visitors also can check out the Statler College
of Engineering's
ECOCAR, which will be on display outside the Capitol (Governor's Drive). Additionally,
the
Mountaineer mascot will be there to greet visitors and guests can test their
legislative knowledge or WVU trivia by participating in themed trivia games.
