Writing 4-H Project Area
Find the motivation you need to start or continue your exploration of the art of writing. Explore why to write, where to get ideas, theme, character, plot and setting, word choice, imagery and dialogue. Keep it all in one place to create a portfolio.
The 4-H Writing project area consists of one project manual. The Writer in You contains three years of activities.
Scoresheet
Each year, 4-H members should complete the required number of activities for that level. Members will also take part in at least 1 learning experience, at least 1 leadership/citizenship activity, and complete a project review.
- Year 1: Complete PROJECT AREA: Writing for Self-Expression.
- Year 2: Complete PROJECT AREA: Elements of Creative Writing.
- Year 3: Complete PROJECT AREA: Language.
Exhibit Ideas
- Year 1 Exhibit: Your Writing Portfolio (p. 40) – Activity 2 and Activity 3. Also include your written responses to the More Challenge activities and pieces of writing from your journal, if you are keeping one.
- Year 2 Exhibit: Your Writing Portfolio (p. 40) – Activity 8, Activity 9, and Activity 10. Also include your written responses to the More Challenge activities and pieces of writing from your journal, if you are keeping one.
- Year 3 Exhibit: Your Writing Portfolio (p. 40) – Activity 4, Activity 6, and Activity 7. Also include your written responses to the More Challenge activities and pieces of writing from your journal, if you are keeping one.
