The Mildred Fizer Scholarship for 4-H’ers was established by Miss Mildred Fizer, West Virginia University’s Extension Service’s first female 4-H director. Fizer, a Marshall University grad, worked in the Cabell County school system before becoming a 4-H agent in the county in the late 1940s. She then moved to Morgantown as a 4-H specialist and became the first female 4-H director in the late 1960s, serving in that position for 16 years before retiring.
