West Virginia Small Farm Conference Scholarships

Full Scholarships Available

The scholarship for the West Virginia Small Farm Conference historically prioritizes young and beginning farmers from West Virginia on a first-come, first-served basis. This scholarship will cover the cost of the full conference, which includes three days of registration and all conference provided meals. Lodging, transportation, and meals outside of the conference are not included.  

Applicants must explain or demonstrate a financial need for the support of this educational experience and must not have received a scholarship previously. 

Applications must be submitted before 5 p.m., on January 12, 2023. Applications are processed in the order received and are processed on a per person basis, not as a group. If you are applying with other individuals, each person will need to submit their own application. Group members’ applications will not be taken into consideration when reviewing individual applications. If you have questions, please call the Small Farm Center office at 304-293-2715.

Awarded Funds

If approved for funds, you will receive an award notification email within one week of the deadline and asked to respond. You will have one week to respond or your funding will be forfeited. If granted funding, you will be contacted with registration instructions.

For your scholarship to the conference, there are a few expectations so we can receive feedback on your experience as a first time attendee and encourage other beginning small farmers to attend. 

What expectations are there for scholarship recipients after the conference? 
After attending the conference, scholarship recipients will be required to: 

1. Submit at least 2 color photos - one of yourself at the conference and one of your farm (a recent photo taken any time of year) 
2. Complete a short report form regarding what you learned at the conference (a template will be provided via email) 
3. Submit a thank you letter for our sponsors (a template will be provided via email)
