Use your favorite greens, vegetables, fruits and dressing in this salad surprise! This is a great way to cut down on food waste and use what is in your fridge.
- Take a minute to read through the recipe before you start.
- Wash all fresh produce and work surfaces.
- Wash your hands at the beginning and throughout the cooking process.
- Children should ask for permission before using appliances and sharp knives.
- 4 cups of greens of your choice (kale, romaine lettuce, spinach, spring mix)
- ½ cup of diced fruit of your choice (mandarin oranges, diced strawberries, blueberries, pineapples, raspberries, peaches)
- 1 small onion, diced
- dressing (create your own or use a favorite one you have on hand)
- Prepare the ingredients. Wash and tear or chop greens. Wash and slice/dice the fruit you selected.
- Prepare the salad. Gently toss together the greens and fruit. Add dressing right before serving.
- 6 tablespoons oil
- 4 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 pinch of crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- Combine all ingredients in a jar with a lid and shake well, or combine in a small bowl and whisk until smooth.
- Allow to stand for 10 minutes so flavors blend together.
- Contents may separate when stored. Shake or stir to re-mix before using.
