WVU Day at the Legislature
Mark your calendar for
February 20, 2018. WVU Day at the Legislature is the one day a year that
we can show the legislators how important the Extension Service is in this state
and in Wood County. Featured at this event will be programs like FFA, CEOS, 4-H,
Energy Express, Master Gardeners, and other farm, family, and nutrition programs.
Members have a chance to meet with legislators from the area and watch a senate
meeting in session.
If you are interested in attending this event and showing your support, please
call the WVU Extension Office at 304-424-1960. Please announce this to your clubs.
If your club plans to attend as a group, please let us know how many members will
be attending. Delegates will often announce counties attending if we call in advance.
Any 4-H member in grades 6-12 is eligible to be a page for the day. If interested,
please contact
Lindsey Shawver at 304-424-1960. Space is limited! Don’t miss the chance
to show your support!
Wood County Roundup
Wood County Roundup is a public speaking/visual presentation competition for 4-H
members at the county level. You can demonstrate how to do something, give a speech,
or do a PowerPoint presentation about your 4-H project area or a topic of interest
to you! Blue ribbon winners have the opportunity to record their visual presentation
to be sent to Morgantown for State Competition and a chance to bring home the GOLD!
This year there are two opportunities to present at the county level.
March 6, 2018 at 7 p.m., at the Courthouse Annex - County Art Competition
and Visual Presentations
April 3, 2018 at 7 p.m., at the Courthouse Annex - County Cookie Bakeoff
and Visual Presentations
First-year 4-H members and Cloverbuds may sign up to recite the pledge or creed to
gain public speaking experience. More information and registration will be available
in early February, so save the dates now!
