Wood County 4-H celebrated their 4-H members at their annual Awards Banquet on November 5, 2017 at the Butcher Bend 4-H Campground. The event was sponsored by Wesbanco.
Wood County 4-H members received several awards and recognitions for outstanding project work, community service, and leadership in 2017. Awards were given out at the club, county and state levels.

State Dairy Poster Contest Certificates – posters were displayed over the show ring at the West Virginia Dairy Cattle Show and Festival in August at WVU Jackson’s Mill:
State Photo Contest Winners – photos were displayed at the State Fair of West Virginia:
State Fair Still Project Exhibits – 97 blue ribbon projects from Wood County were displayed at the State Fair. Only 10 Best of Show ribbons are awarded at this event, and two were from Wood County:
All Stars – nominated at the county level, selected at the state level and inducted into the All Stars at a state camp:
State Shooting Sports Competitions - Senior Air Rifle Team Placed 7th the Junior Division Team A placed 2nd and Junior Team B placed 12th:

Blake Tennant placed 2nd overall in the Senior Division Air Rifle competition at state and represented West Virginia at the National Air Rifle Competition in Nebraska in June finishing 28th nationwide.
State 4-H Day – Visual Presentation Contest Winners:
Mallory Marks, Saulsbury 4-H Club, won the state level Prudential Spirit of the Community Award after her 2016 nomination. She represented West Virginia at the national competition in Washington, D.C., in May. Mallory won $1,000 and a silver medallion for her community service work.
