Introduction to Oil & Gas Electrical Safety Requirements

Course Description

This course provides students with knowledge meeting the API RP 54 9.14 – Recommended Practice for Occupational Safety for Oil and Gas Well Drilling and Servicing Operations – Generators, Motors, and Lighting. The course is delivered in 7 modules that equal 7.5 hours total training. Topics covered include: Hazards of Electricity, Sources of Electricity, High Risk Areas, Electrical PPE and Flame Resistant Clothing, Hazardous Classified Locations, Lockout/Tagout, Ground field requirements, Arc Flash Requirements (NEC 70E), static electricity, lightning, overhead lines, review of the OSHA Subpart K (Construction) and Subpart S (General Industry), NEC Hazardous Classified Locations, static electricity, and electrical test equipment inspection and demonstration.
