Economic Reports & Regional Profiles
Economic reports and profile
programs from the WVU Extension Service provide data for informed community economic development
decision-making. Our team can help you quickly assemble data for community grant
applications, provide insights into quality of life, and generate key
statistics to help you understand your community and region’s economic
strengths and weaknesses.
Past projects include:
comprehensive community profiles that address a diversity of community capitals and assets;
industry cluster analyses that identify regions’ key economic advantages and opportunities for targeted business recruitment; and
focused studies that benchmark and evaluate development projects, provide a better understanding of community housing needs, and identify the needs of creative economy business owners.
Although much of the data is from secondary sources (U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Economic Analysis, Bureau of Labor Statistics, etc.), we also develop survey tools and conduct qualitative analyses to collect primary data from residents and businesses. These conversations and primary data sources complement the numbers and provide a richer story and dataset on which to base development decisions.
