Spring 2026 Intern Training Class

We are now accepting applications for the 2026 Berkeley-Jefferson Extension Master Gardener Intern Training Class!

The course covers many aspects of horticulture, including soils, botany, plant diseases, insects and pests, fruits, home gardens (vegetable and flower), landscape design, and composting. Your tuition fee covers all course material including the comprehensive 350-page West Virginia University Extension Master Gardener Manual. Classes will supplement the reading assignments from the manual.

The 2026 training will be in a hybrid approach. In-person classes are held every other Monday, from 9 AM to 12:30 PM. Classes will be held at the WVU Kearneysville Tree Fruit Research & Education Center at 67 Apple Harvest Lane in Kearneysville. In addition to in-person courses, seven virtual courses will be held over Zoom on Thursday evenings. These can be completed live, or recordings can be watched later. Virtual courses are organized through the state Master Gardener Association, while in-person courses are organized by the local Berkeley-Jefferson chapter.
