Hay bails up close.

With hay harvesting equipment in full go, it is time to think about how you plan to store those bales. Driving through the countryside, you will see various ways of hay storage, ranging from left out in the weather to covered with tarps and many placed in pole barns. Throughout the southern part of the US, research has shown it's common to loss 30% or more of the dry matter in each bale. A study conducted in Louisiana, showed that you can expect a 43% loss of dry matter when left out in the elements.
