Community Planning

It can be said that those who "fail to plan" actually "plan to fail."

Even when they want to do so, sometimes, local governments need help in knowing what planning for the future means and how best to do it.

When used properly, a plan can serve as a blueprint to guide the locality in the future. Providing technical assistance and guidance to localities that are creating or updating plans is the purpose of the Community Planning program.

This is done by providing education and training, consulting with local officials, reviewing existing plans and helping coordinate local activities for the project. The program can be tailored to meet the specific needs of any county, municipality, authority or organization requesting assistance.

Types of planning where assistance and education are available include:

  • Comprehensive planning

  • Strategic planning

  • Development planning

  • Organizational planning

Cost

Program fees are negotiated based on project scope and time, as well as direct costs involved.
