Boone County Dining with Diabetes

Diabetes is a common, serious and costly disease. Many complications of diabetes can be controlled and even prevented by making lifestyles changes–scheduling regular doctor visits, improving eating habits, increasing physical activity and maintaining a healthy weight.

Dining with Diabetes is a series of classes that run once a week for four consecutive weeks. Classes are offered at varying times to provide participants with a time that works best for them. (Once you register, you'll be given a list of times available, and you can select the one that works best for you.) A follow-up class will be scheduled three to four months later. Participants are expected to attend all classes. Dining with Diabetes is a free program that is open to individuals with diabetes or pre-diabetes, their family members and their caregivers.

During the classes, you will learn how to prepare meals that are healthy, easy to make and tasty. Each class also provides live cooking demonstrations. And, you will also learn up-to-date information on nutrition, meal planning, exercise and how to understand common diabetes-related medical tests. Recipes and handouts will be given to each participant.

Dining with Diabetes classes are held regularly in Boone County. Check this site regularly to see new dates and locations of classes. For more information or to register for a class, email David Roberts or call our office at 304-369-4422.
