BQA workshops offer updates to assist livestock producers on keeping current with best management practices based on research-based information. This continuing education for cattle producers is extremely important for the West Virgini a beef industry and for cattle producers in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

The program has been very successful in educating cattle producers on improving the health of their livestock, increasing profits through good management and providing a high quality product.

Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) is a program developed to ensure that beef cattle are managed in a manner that will result in safe and wholesome products for the consumer. BQA is a producer driven program, receiving funding from the Beef Checkoff. The program was started in 1987 to reduce antibiotic residues and injection site lesions in beef.

The program is free and open to anyone interested regardless of residency. Pre-registration is encouraged. To pre-register or obtain more information, call the WVU Extension Wood County Office at 304-424-1960 or contact J.J. Barrett ( jj.barrett@mail.wvu.edu) on his cell 304-483-4257.
