Taylor County News

Due to continued health and safety protocols, we will not be holding overnight camp at Camp Towles this summer. However, we will be offering some exciting Day Camp options to help keep the 4-H Spirit alive. Each will be based around a different theme for a full day of fun at the low cost of $5 per day. 

Members will be able to register for their top choice on Zsuite through Friday, June 4, 2021, to ensure that everyone get the opportunity to attend at least one day Camp. Registration for additional days will open on June 5, and close on Friday, June 11, 2021. Enrollment on Zsuite is required to register. 

Taylor County has a rich and varied history from its importance during the American Civil War to the founding of Mother's Day to the railroad that allowed the county to prosper. The WVU Taylor County Extension Service invites you to celebrate this heritage by participating in the Taylor County History Photo Challenge. Throughout the month of May 2021, take photos of yourself with as many of these 12 sites as you can and post them to Facebook, making sure to tag the Taylor County Extension page. Employees of the Taylor County Extension Office and their immediate families are welcome to participate, but will not be eligible for prizes.

Prizes will be awarded to participants with the most photos in Adult (18 and up) and Youth (17 and under) categories. In the case of a tie, a drawing will be held to determine the winner. We reserve the right the substitute a prize of equal value if the listed prize is not available at the conclusion of the Challenge.

Summer is a time for relaxing and enjoying yourself, but you can also learn new things at the same time! Join AmeriCorps VISTAs Jordan, Mikala, and Charis each week for fun and easy STEM activities via Zoom.

If you're a Taylor County 4-H youth who enjoys writing, please consider entering WVU 4-H's statewide writing exhibition. 4-H youth in Taylor County who would like enter but have questions, should contact the Taylor County Extension Office.

Taylor County 4-H'ers don't forget to participate in the Poster and Photo contest. Photos and Posters need to be dropped off to the Taylor County Extension office no later than February 28, 2018.
