We are excited to offer in-person Extension Master Gardener training this August. The training course is an opportunity for gardeners to improve their horticultural knowledge, and to share what they learn with the public during organized volunteer activities.

Program topics covered include: botany, plant problem diagnosis, soils, ornamental plants, pest management, fruits, vegetables, and plant propagation. WVU Extension Service staff, Master Gardeners, and local area experts serve as class instructors.

  • We are now accepting applications for the 2022 Berkeley-Jefferson Extension Master Gardener course. The application deadline is July 1, 2022.
  • Classes are Mondays afternoons from 12 to 4:00 p.m. Most classes will be held at the WVU Tree Fruit Farm and Research Center in Kearneysville, WV.
  • The 13-week course begins August 15, and ends on November 14. There is no class on Labor Day.
  • Fee to cover costs for the Master Gardener Manual and badge is $100; payable upon an applicant's acceptance into the program.
