West Virginia University Extension Service has named Callie Moles as Wirt County’s newest Extension agent.
Moles is no stranger to WVU Extension. She previously served as a teaching assistant at the Agricultural and Extension Education Department and was an intern with the Roane County Extension Office where she provided outreach through community events, including Energy Express. Moles also served as a camp instructor and counselor at Roane County 4-H camp.
Moles, a native of Roane County, received her bachelor’s degree in agricultural and extension education from West Virginia University’s Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design. She was a student teacher at Gilmer County High School where she taught an introductory course to agriculture, as well as the science of agriculture and fundamentals of agricultural mechanics.
“The Wirt County community is fortunate to have Callie as their newest resident and Extension agent,” said Steven Bonanno, dean and director, WVU Extension Service. “She is very familiar with Extension programs and services. She is a passionate advocate of Extension programming, and will be a great resource for our residents there.”
In her role, she will spend the next three years serving in various capacities for the Wirt County community. She will be working with several Extension mentors to oversee youth development programs, including 4-H; develop family and health programming; and work with local residents and businesses to identify the agricultural needs of the community.
“I am very passionate about the wonderful work of WVU Extension, and I’m looking forward to getting to know our Wirt County residents,” said Moles. “During the next few months and years, I’ll be working closely with wonderful mentors who I admire and know their advice, experience and counsel will serve me well in this new role. I’m excited to do my part to provide meaningful outreach and services that will help our local residents and the greater Wirt County community.”
