Monongalia County is now currently accepting Energy Express applications

Energy Express is a summer reading program for children entering 1st through 6th grades. Energy Express is a free program that focuses on continuing literacy education throughout the summer months through art, writing, and drama activities. Although it may look a little different this year, we are still planning to offer the program.

At Energy Express you will:

  • Make new friends.
  • Express yourself through art, writing, and drama activities.
  • Get a book to keep each week.
  • Spend time with a college student mentor.

To apply for the Energy Express program, please complete and return the application to the WVU Extension Office at 270 Mylan Park Lane, Suite 250 Morgantown, WV 26501. 

NOTE : Additional details will be provided, as they are available. (Child applications taken until all spots are filled, child selection is based on a variety of criteria. There are a limited amount of spots for the program and admittance is not guaranteed).

Want to donate to help Energy Express?

Each child attending Energy Express in the summer costs approximately $250. Although Energy Express is supported in part by grant funds, the program must rely heavily on community contributions and donated program resources. If you would like to support Energy Express through monetary donation or donation of time, please contact the Monongalia County Extension Office at 304-291-7201.

Monetary donations are tax deductible and support the following areas:

  • Art and writing supplies – $15 per child
  • Six take-home books each – $22 per child
  • Meals and transportation for children
