PURPOSES:
To provide leadership training and recognition for 4-H volunteers, young adults,
alumni and WV 4-H All-Stars. The weekend will focus on the enhancement of leadership
abilities and skills for working with the 4-H program. The 4-H All-Star Consecration
Ceremony and Volunteer Leader Recognition program will both be held during this
weekend.
WHO:
WV 4-H All-Stars and adult 4-H volunteer leaders and alumni, 18 years and older,
who serve or want to learn more about serving as volunteers with the West Virginia
4-H program
WHEN:
September 25-27, 2020
WHERE:
WVU Jackson’s Mill, Weston, W.Va.
Enroll & Register for 4-H Activities
All participants must register even if they are not required to pay so that we can prepare enough materials, food, etc.
Anyone wishing to stay in private or lodge housing on Friday night must contact WVU Jackson's Mill directly at 304-269-5100 to register for housing.
PROGRAM:
The full conference program includes leadership learning sessions/workshops, WV 4-H
All-Star business meeting, ideas for 4-H club meetings and activities, leader recognition,
informative speakers, Council Circle, reflections, fellowship and fun.
The program is designed especially for adult 4-H volunteers to enhance the lives
of youth across W.Va., and to acknowledge the tireless efforts of our volunteers.
It is an excellent opportunity for leaders to learn about the 4-H program, gain
leadership skills, get new program ideas, make new friends, assist in discussing
future plans and renew enthusiasm for the 4-H program.
CANCELLATION/REFUNDS:
Cancellations and request for refunds must be emailed to Rachel.Griffith@mail.wvu.edu.
NO REFUNDS will be made for no-shows. (A $15 refund processing fee applies.)
The weekend has three separate registration options for participants. A Friday
Package ($20), Saturday Only Package (Free) and Sunday Package ($10). Participants
can register for any portion of the weekend with the total cost being a maximum
of $30 (if staying in cottages for the entire weekend). If participants are
interested in private housing options at Jackson’s Mill (private lodging, lodge
or suites) they must call Jackson’s Mill directly to reserve and pay additionally
for those options. Jackson’s Mill is currently accepting reservations for
private lodging for this weekend. Past participants of YAC, VLW or Collegiate
4-H Conference will also be sent an additional promo code directly to further reduce
the cost of the weekend as a thank you for their past participation in those events.
The schedule for this weekend is still being finalized, but will include speakers,
workshops, an interactive/hands on service project and experiences which will help
educate and train our adult 4-H members and volunteers in new and exciting areas
in 4-H. The bulk of the experiences will be throughout Saturday, but some
activities will be available on Friday evening and Sunday morning. The WV 4-H All
Stars will have various recognition and events surrounding their 100th birthday
as well as a consecration service for new members. Remember this is the only
scheduled consecration for adults in 2019. We will also recognize outstanding
volunteer, 45 and 50 year leaders. This will be a great opportunity for adults
from your county to learn and engage with others from throughout the state.
If you are interested and from Monongalia County, please contact Becca for more information.
