2018 Conference Packet Resources
A message from the CLA Director, Kelly Nix
Greetings Community Leadership Academy (CLA) participant,
On behalf of the planning and advisory committees, I would like to personally welcome you to the 2018 CLA! Our theme this year, Igniting Investments for our Future, is timely and relevant and the schedule incorporates many topics that will challenge you to think of what we need to do now that will benefit our future.
The CLA has three tracks that include Leadership, Good Governance, and Economic Strategy and we have designed this conference to:
- Help emerging and established leaders understand, use and develop their community assets effectively.
- Support robust community engagement and further community growth.
- Provide West Virginia’s local government officials and community leaders with a solid foundation in public organizational and financial management, grounded in current complex issues affecting West Virginia communities.
I hope you will make the most of your time at CLA! I want to encourage you to become fully engaged in the sessions and meet new people. Through new knowledge and networking that leads to partnerships, you will be equipped to go back to your community and make a difference that will benefit West Virginia in years to come.

Last, but definitely not least. The annual Community Leadership Academy would not
be able to maintain its consistency and relevancy with fresh topics each year
without these two groups. Thank you planners!
